Delhi - Jaipur - Agra - Khajuraho - Varanasi - Kathmandu - Delhi
The Kingdom of Nepal is remote , landlocked, and fiercely traditional .Its rich
diversity of peoples , borne here on the great trade routes from India to Central
Asia , are mirrored by an astonishing variety of landscapes from lowlands to
mountain peaks , from rice paddies of Terai to Summit of Everest.
On this tour we begin with some of the greatest sites of Northern
India , Secular and religious, from the places of Agra and Jaipur to the Temples
of Khajuraho and Orcha
And banks of the Ganges where pilgrims purify themselves in the holy waters
of the river.A short flight takes us North to the legendary city of Kathmandu.
After the intensity of India Nepal seems a relaxed and peaceful place, cut off
from the pressures of the modern world .Over the course of the journey we endeavour
to discover the sprit of the country through some of its most picturesque towns
and village and its vast, enthralling landscapes .
Day 1: Depart USA. Your journey to India begins this evening as you depart
from New York for Delhi.
Day 2: Arrive Delhi. Evening arrival in India's capital. You'll be escorted
to your deluxe hotel. Grand Hotel.
Day 3: New Delhi. This morning tour of New Delhi -ordered grandiose,
imperial-produced a synthesis of Indian and Imperial British architecture New
Delhi's highlights including the 12th century hand- carved Qutab Minar, the
Birla Temple and the India Gate. Later, a tour of Old Delhi takes you to the
memorial to Mahatma Gandhi and the Jamma Masjid, India's largest mosque. the
Red Fort, built in 1648 as a symbol of Mughal's power. Return to Hotel for Welcome
cocktails followed by a welcome dinner hosted by Vacations International . (B,D)
Day 4: Delhi/Jaipur. Depart Delhi for Pink city of Jaipur which is Rajasthan
at its most irresistible and flamboyant. Transfer to Hotel .Rajputana Sheraton/Holiday
Inn
Day 5: Jaipur. Journey out to Jaipur for a tour of Rajput Stronghold
of Amber Fort where we ascend to the battlements by elephant . Enjoy a walking
tour as well as a rickshaw ride in Jaipur's old city where you will explore
the colourful local bazaar. Also visit the Palace of Winds, the landmark of
Jaipur. , later attend a prayer ritual at a Hindu temple. Enjoy a leisure evening
in picturesque Jaipur to explore on your own. (B)
Day 6: Jaipur/Agra. Drive to Agra , stopping en route at the wetland
sanctuary of Bharatpur to view the abundant bird life .After lunch continue
the ghostly city of Fatehpur Sikri, once a glittering capital but later abandoned
due to scarcity of water. Deserted for centuries yet perefectly preserved .
Arrive in Agra in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel Mughal Sheraton
Hotel. (B)
Day 7: Agra. The highlight of this morning's tour is a visit the Taj
Maha at Sunrise to experience the extraordinary luminescence of the walls as
they are bathed in an eternal dawn light . This 17th century, white marble mausoleum
was built by Emperor Shah Jehan to enshrine the mortal remains of his Queen
Mumtaz Mahal. After breakfast we visit the magnificent Agra fort , the creation
of Akbar the great , and small intimate tomb of Itmaud-ud-daulah. Later, explore
on your own, shop or relax at your luxury hotel's pool-side. (B)
Day 8: Agra/Orcha /Khajuraho. Travel aboard the Shatabdi Express train
to Jhansi and continue by coach to Orchha, to tour the ruins of medieval palaces,
temples and weed-choked cenotaphs .Continue drive on to Khajuraho and transfer
to our Hotel . Taj Chandela Hotel. (B)
Day 9: Khajuraho. Morning tour of the splendid temples of Khajuraho amongst
the finest in India -whose wonderful friezes are famous for their numerous exotic
scenes., built by the Chandela kings between the 9th and 13th centuries. The
temples are exquisitely carved with graceful statues and frieze of Gods and
Goddesses. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 10: Khajuraho/Varanasi. Fly to Varanasi, Hinduism's holiest city,
known to the Hindu faithful as the city of light , one of the oldest living
cities in the world situated on the sacred Ganges River. Visit the temples and
shrines and pass the narrow streets filled with shops selling exotic spices

Day 11: Varanasi/Kathmandu, Nepal. We rise early to enjoy a fascinating
boat ride on the river Ganges .At this hour the Ghats are the host to the activities
of the faithful -bathers descending into the holy river , Brahmin priests offering
puja, and devotees practising meditation and Yoga. In the afternoon we fly to
Kathmandu, the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Nepal.The rest of the afternoon

Day 12: Kathamandu. Morning visit to the major temple towns in the Kathmandu
Valley at the foot of the Himalayan mountains. See the gilded copper gate in
Bhadgeon, a masterpiece. Proceed to the Hindu Temple of Shiva and the Buddhist
shrine at Bodhnath. Afternoon at leisure. Your deluxe hotel is conveniently
located for independent exploring and shopping. (B)
Day 13: Kathmandu. Today, you may experience an optional Mount Everest
scenic flight over the breathtaking Himalayas (weather permitting). Later, drive
through the captivating countryside to the "City of Artists", Patan
and see beautiful art and architecture. On your way back, stop at Tibetan Refugee
Craft Centre and visit the temples, pagodas and palaces in Durbar. (B)
Day 14: Kathmandu/Delhi. Leisure time for last minute pursuits before

Day 15: Delhi/USA. Early this morning bid farewell. Your memorable journey
ends as you arrive New York this afternoon. (B)
